Yakima, WA After a four year hiatus from Yakima, the internationally renowned musical, CATS, is returning to Yakima’s own Capitol Theatre! One of the longest running shows on Broadway, seven time Tony Award winning CATS promises to keep audiences riveted to their seats as they follow to “tails” of dignified Old Deuteronomy, flirtatious Rum Tum Tugger, the outcast Grizabella, and of course, wicked Macavity.
Based on T.S. Eliott’s Old Possums’ Book of Practical Cats, and set to music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, CATS has been enjoyed by kids and adults alike since opening in London in 1981. The show has been performed in more than 25 countries around the world, and has been translated into ten languages. The costumes, the music and the pure imagination of the show have made CATS into one of the most well-known and beloved musicals of all time.
The tour visiting Yakima May 6 and 7 is produced by Troika Entertainment, the only production in North America sanctioned by Andrew Lloyd Webber. With original direction by Trevor Nunn and choreography by Gillian Lynne this is the CATS you’ll want to see!
