See Me Naked
March 8-10, 2012

Maria Glanz is a real woman. She’s a mom. She works. She has good days and bad ones, she gets excited and sometimes she cries. And, it’s for these reasons that her performance of See Me Naked is so funny, touching, and genuine.

In a world filled with Botox, plastic surgery, and airbrushed super models, Glanz presents the human body in a forgotten light: real. Through her performance, she takes the audience on a quick tour of their own views of nakedness, which are most often based on some belief that what they are is less than perfect.

You’ll find yourself nodding and thinking, “Hmm... I never thought about it that way.”

You’ll laugh.

You’ll wonder, “Is she really going to take it all off?”

"It’s a cross between theater and stand-up comedy," explains Glanz."Some audiences are really lively, some are very warm and open, and sometimes people are moved almost to the point of crying."

Other times, audiences are very talkative and they get into conversation. At one point in her See Me Naked performance, the auburn-haired actress asks the audience to undress, and she’s had some revealing results. "One guy went down to his briefs," she says. "Others won’t even undo a button. Because each performance is interactive, no two shows ever turn out quite the same.”

See Me Naked has played at the Seattle Fringe Festival, Open Circle Theater, ReAct the Fringe at ArtsWest, the UNO Festival of Solo Performance in Victoria BC, the Saskatoon Fringe Festival, the Edmonton Fringe Festival, the Montreal Fringe Festival, the Blue Barn Theatre in Omaha, and the Winnipeg Fringe Festival.
