On behalf of the Capitol Theatre Committee Board of Trustees, I’d like to welcome you to the 2009-2010 season of The Capitol Theatre’s “Best of Broadway” series, and the brand new “Broadway on the EDGE” series.
Becoming President of the Board of Trustees for the Theatre is certainly an honor, and this year, it’s been particularly exciting as well. The progress happening on the back lot is a daily reminder that the future of the City, our economy, and of course, the Theatre itself, is looking bright.
The production center will ensure that the tours we select to come to Yakima will be the best available. The new Black Box will bring a whole new kind of entertainment to town, and with it, new business for local restaurants, hotels, wineries, and shopping venues. Now more than ever, the Capitol Theatre is fulfilling its goal to enrich quality of life through performing art and entertainment opportunities.
I hope you will join us for each of this year’s Best of Broadway hits: The Wedding Singer, Annie, and Camelot, and I personally invite you to join me for the new EDGE series shows: Avenue Q, Dixie’s Tupperware Party, and Cabaret. As the name implies, the new series is a little edgy and racy—but highly entertaining for adults.
I’m proud to be a part of The Capitol Theatre and this community. The two are intertwined, relying on one another for definition and continuity. As one succeeds, the other will as well.
Sincerely,
Russ Myers
Capitol Theatre Board President
