CIRQUE LE MASQUE
November 5 & 6, 2010

When you spot that “Cirque” word, you may have an idea what’s in store. However, It won’t be a circus with elephants and tigers; you probably won’t be eating popcorn and peanuts. Instead, you’ll be part of a magical adventure in this fantasy come-to-life, European-style circus.  With performers well-skilled in acrobatics and aerial feats, you’ll be alternatively hanging on the edge of your seat and doubling over with laughter.  A one-of-a-kind family show that is a thrill a minute.

Cirque le Masque’s newest production, Carnivale, captivates audiences with an energetic explosion of sight, sound, imagination, and awe-inspiring physicality. Drenched in colorful light and apparently oblivious to the forces of gravity, the finest acrobats, aerial artists and gymnasts perform incredible feats—combining strength, agility, beauty and impeccable timing.

The story of the show begins with a young tourist, Moira, wandering—suitcase in hand—down a busy street. She is annoyed by the sights and sounds of the big city: a crowd dancing and cavorting to street music; the traffic noise, too many clamoring voices… Moira finds herself longing to be somewhere else.

Soon our young heroine heads off to Rio de Janeiro, where a very different street scene awaits her. Through the magical and captivating aerialist, acrobat, comics and character performers, Carnivale presents Moira with the lifestyle of which she’s always dreamed. Making new friends, she begins a journey of learning about longing, happiness, courage and love.

Carivale has won a slew of awards, and the show’s aerial acts are truly thrilling and death-defying. The acrobats are able to balance in ways that appear impossible, making audience members from 5 to 95 ask, “How can they do that?” Combining awe-inspiring physical feats with comedy produces a show that will leave the house screaming with laughter.Cirque Le Masque is a perfect blend of live theatrical entertainment and cutting edge special effects completely thrilling audiences of all ages.
