THE FUTURE FOR THE CAPITOL THEATRE

The construction of the Production Center, CT Center and Black Box Theatre will serve as economic drivers for the renaissance that Yakima's downtown is undergoing - by getting more people downtown and keeping them there. High quality public space is an integral part of this vision, as is the desire to create more, diverse opportunities for people to be entertained while on the campus of the arts established by the CT's presence. The CT is also aiming to diversify the age groups attracted to this arts district, in part by offering smaller-type venues, and making the district more culturally diverse.

Bring Our 33-year Old Theatre Up to Date - Sound & lights, the symphony’s orchestra shell, carpeting to curtains: they are all worn out and need to be replaced

Keep Broadway Coming to Yakima - The Production Center will allow us to load in and stage the ever- increasing size and complexity of today’s touring shows

Build Generations of Theatre Goers - Tomorrow's audiences are the foundation of our future and we need to prepare for their ever-changing lifestyles and entertainment demands. The ease of use, flexibility, and intimate environment of our new Black Box theatre allow us to expand the number and variety of shows

Create New Reasons Enjoy the Capitol Theatre - From dances to dinners, the Terrace will be a new reason to come downtown. Retracting the doors to the Black Box theatre, the Terrace can transform from an intimate gathering to an evening of Salsa dancing

Strengthen Our Future, Enrich Our Community

Downtown Yakima is in a resurgence and the Capitol Theatre is playing a leading role by restoring the CTC owned Wilson Building into CTCenter. Restoring the original façade, converting the interior into administrative offices, creating a box office, retail space and light food/beverage service is an investment, with a solid return:

New Revenues - $1.5 Million Net over 20-years
6,500 SF of Indoor/Outdoor event space for rent
4,000 SF of prime retail in the heart of downtown
Savings - $500,000 Net over 20-years in rent
