ECONOMIC IMPACT

The construction of the Production Center, Pavilion and pedestrian Plaza will serve as economic drivers for the renaissance that Yakima's downtown is undergoing - by getting more people downtown and keeping them there. High quality public space is an integral part of this vision, as is the desire to create more, diverse opportunities for people to be entertained while on the campus of the arts established by the CT's presence. The CT is also aiming to diversify the age groups attracted to this arts district, in part by offering smaller-type venues, and making the district more culturally diverse.

A HEALTHY DOWNTOWN RESTS ON 3 CORNERSTONES

Living - Currently the only downtown living is through subsidized housing

Retail - In 2001 a 660,000 sq ft mall went off line

Destination Attractions -The Capitol Theatre remains as the single building block

Economic Vitality is Quality-of-Life

Above  outcomes are half the average of what our consultants tell us is possible.
